Fall walk
Yesterday we went on a walk to look for signs of fall using our five senses. We found leaves that are changing colors and a few leaves and acorns already on the ground. We listened to the sound the leaves make as they crunched under our feet. We went back to the Wonder Room to touch and see others items related to fall such as gourds and pumpkins. We observed those items like scientist, paying careful attention to their details. We smelled fall in the air as we baked, then tasted pumpkin muffins. It was a fun way to use our five senses to learn about seasonal changes.

Custodian
Today we spent time interviewing one of our custodians, Mr. Dean. We asked him questions about his job and how we can help to make his job easier. Tomorrow we will practice using his tips to make his job easier such as double checking to be sure we leave the lunchroom clean and picking up trash around our area. Thank you Mr. Dean!

Community Helpers
We have been learning about community helpers in class. We have had visitors come in to share about their job and answer questions. Yesterday we were visited by the police department and fire department. We got to see step by step how a fireman gets dressed. We also got to look at a patrol car and a fire truck. Today we learned about construction and working for the Air Force. We had an opportunity to explore blue plans for local buildings and watch a video about the Air Force. The students were very eager to ask questions and learn about these jobs. A very special "Thank you" to our visitors.

Week 7
We will continue to learn about community helpers this week. We will have a few visitors come and share about their career. We have made lists of questions to ask them when they visit. We will continue working on numbers one to ten. Our sight words will be an, is, & look. We will focus on the letters I and W. We will begin working on opinion writing. We will be reading books by Mem Fox; you may want to check some out from the local library. As you can see, it will be a very busy week! I can't wait to get started in the morning! Come rested and ready to learn! We have a lot of work ahead of us!
